Clinical Pastoral Education

Whether you're young or old, a man or a woman, a layperson or seasoned ordained minister, if you're called to minister to people in crisis, you'll find plenty of opportunities to hone your skills in St. Francis' Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program. The program is one of only two accredited training programs in Georgia outside of Atlanta and one of 350 nationwide.

Based on the residency model that physicians undertake, you'll spend approximately one third of your time as a chaplain intern in formal educational activities (group and individual) and two-thirds of your time giving pastoral care to patients at one or more of these facilities: St. Francis Hospital, The Bradley Center of St. Francis, Franciscan Woods. Our staff chaplains and chaplain interns make thousands of visits to people in need on an annual basis.

As a chaplain-in-training, you'll receive supportive guidance and learn ways to bring spiritual refreshment and encouragement to many types of patients and their families.
