Dr. L. Erik Westerlund, MD, FAAOS

Dr. L. Erik Westerlund joined the Orthopaedic Institute and the Spine and Neurosurgery Center in 2008. He specializes in disorders of the spine.

After receiving his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, Dr. Westerlund completed his orthopaedic residency and internship at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center in Charlottesville, Va. In addition to his residency, Dr. Westerlund also completed a fellowship in spine surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Medical Center and the Rothman Institute in Philadelphia, Pa.

Dr. Westerlund has completed several post-doctoral research fellowships, and has been published in many medical journals and other publications. He is a member of numerous medical societies, including the North American Spine Society, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Spinal Injury Association, the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American College of Surgeons.
