Dr. Thomas R. Walsh, MD

Dr. Thomas Walsh, director of the St. Francis Spine and Neurosurgery Center, is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He has practiced orthopaedic surgery in Columbus since 1988 and specializes in orthopaedic spine surgery.

After graduating magna cum laude and receiving his medical degree from the University of Iowa Missouri School of Medicine in Iowa City, Iowa, Dr. Walsh completed an orthopaedic residency and internship. He then served in the United States Army from 1988-1992, including a stint in the 15th Evacuation Hospital in Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm, before completing a spine surgery fellowship at the Missouri Spine Center in Columbia, Mo.

Dr. Walsh is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the North American Spine Society and the Georgia Orthopaedic Society, among others. He has published several articles on topics, such as connective tissue diseases, lumbar discography and bone and joint surgery.
