John Grogan, author of New York Times best-selling book “Marley and Me” will entertain guests at the Third Annual Butler Service and Leadership Award dinner on January 16.

As Columbus’ first cardiovascular surgeon and one of the founders of St. Francis Hospital’s open heart surgery program, Dr. Philip Brewer will be honored with the Dr. Clarence C. Butler Service and Leadership Award on Tuesday, January 16. The award will be presented to Dr. Brewer at the third annual Butler Service and Leadership Award dinner. The event, hosted by the St. Francis Foundation, will be held at 6 p.m. at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center.

All animal lovers will be inspired and entertained by guest speaker John Grogan, a columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer and author of #1 national best-selling book, "Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World’s Worst Dog." Grogan and the book have been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, People, Newsweek, Life, and Better Homes & Garden, and on Good Morning America, The Early Show and Fox & Friends. FOX 2000 has purchased dramatic rights to produce a feature film based on the book. Grogan was invited to speak, in part, because honoree Philip Brewer is a pet lover and the president of PAWS of Columbus’ Board of Directors.

The Butler Service and Leadership Award was created to honor the memory of the esteemed Dr. Clarence C. Butler, who left a lasting legacy of excellence. The annual award recognizes individuals who, like Dr. Butler, have had a significant impact on the quality of health care in our region.
