New Behavioral Health Unit Opens at The Bradley Center
Wednesday, February 11, 2009

The Bradley Center announced the opening of a new Clinical Behavioral Health Unit at 4 p.m. Wednesday, February 11. A reception and tour will follow the presentation.

This attractive new13-bed unit will offer programs and services to meet the unique behavioral health needs of geriatric and other adults in our region requiring additional medical support. A multidisciplinary team, including a full-time hospitalist and licensed physicians, nurses and therapists, will offer safe and effective care to patients requiring both medical treatment and psychiatric care. The unit is equipped similar to a traditional hospital, whereas many behavioral health hospitals may not be equipped to care for patients who also require medical attention.

Adults age 65 and older are the fastest growing population in the United States. The number of behavioral health patients in this age group needing added assistance with daily living activities is also growing. These patients require closer observation and assistance in a safe environment. The Bradley Center’s new unit is specially designed and staffed to meet these patients’ requirements.

Betty Oliver, LCSW, is the new unit’s psychotherapist case manager and will be responsible for programming, including individual, family and group counseling. One focus of the new unit will be assisting families caring for aging parents. Admission inquiries should be directed to The Bradley Center at 706-320-3700.
