Certified Nurses Day Celebration
Thursday, March 26, 2009
St. Francis hospital honored 70 board certified nurses in celebration of Certified Nurses Day on Thursday, March 19. Nurses wererecognized for their professionalism, leadership and commitment to excellence in patient care.

Board Certification of nurses plays an increasingly important role in the assurance of high standards of care for patients and their loved ones. St. Francis encourages national board certification for all its nurses. Patients are encouraged to inquire whether there are certified nurses on staff when they visit a hospital or their primary care provider.

A nursing certification indicates a nurse is highly qualified, competent and current in his or her area of specialty, having achieved rigorous requirements to earn their expert credential. Certified Nurses Day was created by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). ANCC, a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association, is the world’s largest and most prestigious nurse credentialing organization.
