NewsSt. Francis Wants You to Get ‘Fit In the Pit’ Monday, November 30, 2009 St. Francis is joining forces with the Columbus Civic Center, Columbus Cottonmouths and the American Heart Association to help Columbus and the area residents get fit. The program, entitled Fit in the Pit, helps the area residents get fit by walking. The Civic Center will open its concourse to the public from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, beginning December 1. On the first Tuesday of every month, the Cottonmouth players will be walking the concourse with the general public in an effort to get everyone involved. Heart healthy lunches will be available on Tuesdays for $8.50. Lunch reservations must be made by the Friday before by calling 706-596-4070. Participants are encouraged to keep track of their miles walked on the American Heart Association’s Web site, www.startwalkingnow.org. All who walk and log at least 100 miles are eligible for prizes and will be invited to an exclusive meet and greet with the Columbus Cottonmouths. They will be recognized at the Cottonmouth’s home game March 25. For more information, call Lindsey Richard at 706-596-4070. << Return |
