Varicose Vein Disease

There are varying degrees of varicose vein disease from small spider veins to larger surface varicose veins.  When looking for a physician to treat vein disease experience matters.  Varicose vein disease can be very complex and each case is unique.  Your choice of physician should be experienced in treating all spectrums of vein disease. What is Varisose Vein Disease?

Most people who suffer form varicose vein disease also have a family history of the disease. Other factors include hormonal changes, pregnancy, obesity, or prolonged standing. Conservative measures may include compression hose, exercise, and weight loss. Conservative therapy does not treat the underlying problems, but helps alleviate the symptoms.


Treatments for vein problems have advanced dramatically over the past 5 years.  There are several treatment options available depending on the severity of your disease. After a history and physical examination, you may need a venous ultrasound.  This is performed in the office by a certified vascular ultrasound technologist.
